Jesus First Came to Die for Our Sins, Next He'll Come to Conquer Evil! - Christmas Special Part 7

When Jesus came the first time, He came to die, to pay the death penalty for our sins. (Tweet that!) That is Easter. Anyone who chooses to reach out and take that gift from Jesus - God the Son - will be saved. (Tweet that!)

But Jesus was resurrected from the dead with over 500 witnesses! That means Jesus is alive forever more! (Tweet that!) Though He rides into war, He will never die again. He comes to battle Evil and He... WILL ... WIN! (Tweet that!)

Here are the Bible prophecies that tell us this:

His First Coming

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." (John 3:16-18)

His Second Coming

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems [crowns], and he has a name written that no one knows but himself... On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 19:11-12, 16)

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4-6)

Jesus First Came as a Lamb, Next He'll Come as a Lion - Christmas Special Part 6

When Jesus came the first time, He came meek and mild, as a Lamb. And he was taken to slaughter as a lamb. (Tweet that!)

The next time Jesus comes, He will come as a conquering Lion! (Tweet that!)

Here is where the Bible and Bible prophecy tells us this:

His First Coming

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29)

His Second Coming

Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?" And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, "Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals." (Revelation 5:1-5)

Jesus' Voice in His First Coming vs. His Voice in His Second Coming - Christmas Special Part 5

When Jesus came the first time, He was born as in infant human. He came crying in the night. (Tweet that!) He had the voice of a newborn baby.

The next time Jesus comes, He will come with a shout! He will come with a powerful voice no one can ignore! He will have a voice that roars as the rushing sound of many waters! (Tweet that!)

Here is where the Bible and prophecy tells us this:

His First Coming

And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." (Luke 2:10-12)

His Second Coming

Then I [John] turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. (Revelation 1:12-15)

For Jesus' First Coming the Inn Was Closed, His Second Coming Heaven Will Open - Christmas Special Part 4

When Jesus came the first time, the doors of the local hotel, the inn, were closed shut. (Tweet that!)

When Jesus comes the next time, in the not-too-distant future, the doors of heaven itself will be opened! (Tweet that!)

Here is where the Bible tells us this:

His First Coming

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.  (Luke 2:1-7)

His Second Coming

After this I [John] looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this." At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. (Revelation 4:1-3)

In Jesus' First Coming Surrounded by Animals, His Second Coming Surrounded by Armies - Christmas Special Part 3

When Jesus came the first time, He came to a poor couple who were traveling with thousands of others to comply with a royal edict requiring a census. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the city of David, the local hotel was already filled to capacity. So they ended up staying in a stable for animals, probably a cave...along with the animals, surrounded by cattle. He was laid in a feeding trough for the animals. (Tweet that!)

The next time Jesus comes, He will be surrounded by the armies of heaven! (Tweet that!)

This is where the Bible tells us this:

His First Coming

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!"
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. (Luke 2:8-20)

His Second Coming

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. (Revelation 19:11-14)

Jesus' First Coming in Swaddling Clothes vs. His Second Coming (Video) - Christmas Special Part 2

When Jesus came the first time, He came small, and poor -- nothing like a King. This reminds me of the song, "How Should a King Come?" (See video below.) (Tweet that!)

The next time He comes, He will come as the most awesome King, as royalty! As a warrior King. Will you be of His army? Or of the army of His enemy? Choose now. Choose wisely.

Here is where the Bible tells us this:

His First Coming

In Jesus' first coming He was wrapped in swaddling clothes and given a manger for a crib. (Tweet that!)

"And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn." Luke 2:7

His Second Coming

The Bible tells us of His Second Coming when He comes to defeat Satan and evil. He is clothed in a royal robe dipped in blood -- which stands for the blood He shed on the cross at His first coming in order to pay the death penalty for every sinner who will accept His gift.  (Tweet that!) Have you accepted His gift? You can do so right now in prayer. (Tweet that!)

Here is the Bible prophecy that tells us about His Second Coming:

"Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords." Revelation 19:13

Jesus' First Coming Born in Obscurity vs. His Prophesied Second Coming - Christmas Special Part 1

Again this year I've planned a special series of Christmas posts for December 2015. (Tweet that!) I hope you enjoy them.

The long-prophesied Messiah, Jesus the Christ, came into the world just over 2,000 years ago. He came quietly, and most the world was unaware of His arrival. (Tweet that!) During His life He made Himself known. And while there were, perhaps, many people in the world at that time who did not hear of Him, through all the centuries since He is still known. He made an impact on this world, changing the eternal destinies of uncountable numbers of men and women, and that work continues today.

While Jesus came once in obscurity, He is coming again with power and great glory! (Tweet that!)

The Bible gives many prophecies about His next coming, His Second Coming. His next coming will be amazingly different than His first! (Tweet that!)

This month of December, leading up to Christmas -- which is the celebration of Jesus' first coming -- we're going to look at 7 comparisons between His first coming and His prophesied second coming which will surely take place... and I believe soon. (Tweet that!)

I hope you enjoy this series! Merry Christmas.

His First Coming

In Jesus' first coming, He was born in obscurity.

"... Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men."  (Philippians 2:5-7, ESV)

His Second Coming

When Jesus comes again, every eye, every human being on earth, will see Him! Here is the Bible prophecy that tells us this:

"Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen." (Revelation 1:7)

I wish to acknowledge: The first 6 of this series of 7 blog posts was inspired by the chart "The First and Second Comings of Christ" on page 198 of the book Agents of the Apocalypse by Dr. David Jeremiah.

Special Announcement:

I have been posting on this blog three times a week. As you might imagine, that takes a lot of time in researching, writing, and preparing each post. At this time in my writing career, I have a lot of opportunities and projects I'd like to pursue, so I've made the decision to cut the number of posts back to two per week for the month of December until Christmas, allowing me to get more work done in other areas. New posts will appear here Tuesdays and Fridays. Then we'll take a holiday from Christmas to New Year's Day.

"Prophecies Fulfilled in the Birth of Jesus" book now on sale!
