Jesus the Perfect Passover Lamb

Thanks Morguefile.com
You're probably familiar with the story of the first Passover. This was the last of the ten plagues God brought against Egypt. We discussed the 9th plague, the plague of darkness, yesterday.

The instructions for Passover were given to Moses, who passed them on to the people, in Exodus 12:

"…each man is to take a lamb … slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs… The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you" (Exodus 12:3, 6, 7, 13, NIV 1984).

This is where the term "Passover" came from: "...I will pass over you" (Exodus 12:13).

For those families and homes who did not slaughter the lamb and paint its blood on the doorframes of their homes, the death angel did not pass over them but entered their home and killed the firstborn son.

This is a picture of Jesus, the perfect Passover Lamb. (Tweet that!)

Jesus was sacrificed on Passover. He was perfect, without sin or flaw. For anyone who is willing to accept his blood and apply it to the doorframes of her or his heart, the death angel will "pass over" her or him meaning even though this person dies physically, each will be raised to life for all eternity with Jesus.

Have you believed God? Have you obeyed God? Have you accepted the blood of Jesus as your Passover Lamb? Are you saved from eternal death by his blood? (Tweet that!) If not yet, you can do that today by simply telling him so in prayer.

You're running out of time. (We all are. See the note below the coming lunar eclipses on the next two Passovers, which this year is less than two weeks away.) No more delays. Do it today.

Jesus said, "As you know, the Passover is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified" (Matthew 26:2, NIV 1984).

Passover is coming. This year, in 2014, Passover begins on April 14th at sundown and runs through sundown April 15th. This year, in 2014, and also next year, 2015, there is going to be a total lunar eclipse on Passover. I believe this is spiritually significant. (Tweet that!) We are going to talk more about the coming lunar eclipses that will occur on Passover, as well as on the Feast of Tabernacles in the fall of 2014 and 2015, on posts here from April 9th through the first eclipse on April 15th. (Tweet that!) Please be sure to stop back during those days. And please direct your family, friends, and others you care about here also.

You will be able to read more about these spiritually significant lunar eclipses on significant Jewish Feast days in my coming book, Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Jesus. (Release date not yet set. To check to see if it's available, please visit my Amazon Author page here.)

  1. BEWARE OF DISTORTED SHEEP-TALK BY STEVE FINNELL

Do dead sheep have eternal security? Can sheep ever be lost? The favorite proof text of advocates for the erroneous doctrine of "once saved always saved" is John 10:27-28.

John 10:27-28 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me, 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

Jesus said His sheep hear is voice. Jesus told us all how to become a member of His flock. (Mark 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved.....) If you have not believed and have not been baptized in water, then you have not listened to the voice of Jesus. There is only one way to become a sheep.

Jesus said His sheep follow Him, He did not say that He would force them to become sheep.

Jesus said His sheep will be given eternal life and no one will snatch them from His hand.

No one can snatch you from the hand of Jesus, however, you can choose to leave His hand voluntarily.

Matthew 10:22 You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

Why would Jesus instruct His sheep to endure to the end, in order to be saved, if the sheep were once saved always saved?

DO DEAD SHEEP HAVE ETERNAL SECURITY?

Acts 5:1-11.....3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back some of the price of the land? 4 .....You have not lied to men but to God."5 And as he heard these words, Ananias fell down and breathed his last. (Did this dead sheep, who lied to God, have eternal security?)

Acts 5:11 And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.(Why would the whole church be in fear because of two dead sheep if all the sheep were once saved always saved?)

    SHEEP HAVE FREE-WILL!

1 Timothy 5:14-15 Therefore, I want younger widows to get married, bear children, keep house, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach; 15 for some have already turned aside to follow Satan.

Satan did not snatch these widows from the hand of Jesus, these sheep made a choice to follow Satan.

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

The love of money can cause sheep to wander from the faith. Satan has no power to force people from the faith. Men have a choice.

1 Timothy 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith.....

The Holy Spirit says some sheep will fall from the faith.
Who do you trust the Holy Spirit or John Calvin?

DO UNREPENTANT SHEEP, WHO HAVE GONE ASTRAY, HAVE ETERNAL SECURITY? NO!

  2. Steve Finnell, if my memory is correct, I've heard from you before. What you left on my blog is not a comment, it is a sermon or an article, and it appears to me to be very self-serving. You use my blog to promote yourself and ask readers to follow your blog. This is not a courteous way to behave.

Your sermon / article seems to be all over the place -- from eternal security to the love of money. It is hard to follow. I'm not sure what you mean by "dead sheep." If a "sheep" is a believer in Jesus Christ who gives eternal life, then they can't be dead now can they?

I do not agree with your conclusions. If a follower of Jesus falls away from Jesus completely, it's clear they were never a true follower. It IS possible for true followers to sin -- we all do. If someone truly follows Jesus and is truly saved, they are saved forever. They cannot lose their salvation. No one can snatch them out of God's hand. He will not lose a single one.

For you to say that someone can sin big enough that Jesus' death and atonement just can't quite cover that sin and so they can lose thier salvation is simply not Scriptural.

To my readers, I recommend that you do not follow this man's blog.
