In my previous post I shared comments from Jonathan Cahn, Messianic Rabbi and author of The Mystery of the Shemitah, following up after last month's Shemitah on Sunday, September 13th. These quotes came in an article at CharismaNews.com.

Today, I'd like to share a recent video with Jonathan Cahn as he gives an answer to those who are wondering why "nothing" happening on the Shemitah September 13, 2015. (Tweet that!) He has an important message to share.

I felt his video contains important answers as well as interesting information. So I hope you'll take just over 10 minutes to hear what he has to say. (Tweet that!)

This video was posted to Youtube by a user called "The Cutting Edge 2." I'm a bit surprised I couldn't find it on Jonathan Cahn's official Youtube channel and I wonder why he wouldn't have it on his own page. Perhaps I'm not using the right search terms and simply didn't find it.

Since the Shemitah on Elul 29 on the Jewish or Biblical calendar took place, which corresponds to Sunday September 13th on our calendar, I've been waiting to hear some commentary from what did -- or did not -- happen. (Tweet that!)

I recently found two items from Jonathan Cahn, author of The Mystery of the Shemitah. One is this article linked below.

The second is a video which I will share in the next post.

Personally I think there was a lot going on in the world connected to the Shemitah -- it just wasn't in the headlines saying anything like, "Stock Market Crashes on the Shemitah"! (Tweet that!) But there were headlines nonetheless, and as the results and realities become visible, I'll share them as I find reputable commentary.

A recent article in CharismaNews.com, "Is the $11 Trillion Market Loss Tied to the Shemitah Cycle?" (October 9, 2015) by Jennifer LeClaire, opens with: 

There's been a lot of talk about the Shemitah. Some say nothing happened, yet $11 trillion in global stock market wealth was wiped out during the third quarter of 2015.

The magazine talked to expert on the Shemitah, Jonathan Cahn, to follow up on the Shemitah:

Cahn says. "As the Shemitah began approaching its last phase in the summer of 2015, the markets of the world began collapsing. In a short space of time, the Shemitah wiped away a stunning 40 percent of the Chinese stock market. Toward the end of August came "Black Monday" and stock market collapses all over the world. In two days, Wall Street had collapsed 888 points."

The Coming Solar Eclipse on the Shemitah

The coming Shemitah 2015 with
the partial solar eclipse will be
September 13, 2015, also known
as Elul 29.

Back in July we were talking about the coming Shemitah…back before we got off on the topic of the 9^th of Av and other topics. I've discovered more about the Shemitah that I'd like to share. Did you know there is going to be a partial solar eclipse ON the day of the  coming Shemitah?

There are actually two partial solar eclipse events this year – in 2015. One is already past. (Tweet that!) It took place back on March 20^th and we talked about how it was occurring on the exact day that was the mid-point of this Shemitah year. (Tweet that!)

There will also be a partial solar eclipse on the Shemitah day itself. (Tweet that!)

Again I'm learning so much from author and teacher Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. Here is a bit from his book The Mystery of the Shemitah. Keep in mind that his book came out in 2014, before this partial solar eclipse which is now in our past:

During 2015 there will be two solar eclipses. Interestingly both of them will bear significance with regard to the Shemitah's timing. One will mark the Shemitah's exact center point. The other will mark its climactic last day, Elul 29. The last time a solar eclipse fell on Elul 39 of a Shemitah year was twenty-eight years earlier in September 1987. It ushered in the greatest stock market percentage crash in American history that same month.

Notice that the previous solar eclipse on a Shemitah day was 28 eight years ago. Remember that a Shemitah is the 7^th year of a 7-year cycle. So that was four Shemitahs ago. (Tweet that!) Jonathan Cahn: Is America's Day of Reckoning Less Than 60 Days Away?

Today is the 9^th of Av, an important date on the Jewish calendar which we've discussed here on the blog. (See Related Articles at the bottom of this post.)

Having already taught about the 9^th of Av, and not knowing what, if anything, might happen concerning Israel today, I wasn't sure what to share for today's post.

Two weeks ago, WND.com published a major article regarding the upcoming Shemitah, and it seems fitting to share that with you today. (Tweet that!)

On July 12, WND.com posted an exclusive interview article with author and Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. (Tweet that!)  We've talked about Mr. Cahn on this blog and I've shared bits of his work from his books The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah.

When the article posted on July 12th, we were about 60 days out from the Shemitah coming this September 13, 2015. Obviously now we are closer to that event – only 7 weeks away. (Tweet that!)

But of course I can't resist sharing a few bites of the article here to whet your curiosity. Here's part of the opening:

This year on Sept. 13, the Shemitah reaches its peak on the last day on the Hebrew calendar, Elul 29, known as the "day of nullification." All debt and credit were to be wiped away on this day as described by author Jonathan Cahn in his New York-Times bestseller, "The Mystery of the Shemitah," published in September 2014. 

But the Shemitah can be a game-changer not only for economies and stock markets but also in geopolitics. 

Jonathan Cahn says that the Shemitah shakes empires. (Tweet that!)  Here's a quote from him and more from the article:

"What we are watching now is a massive destabilization throughout the world – from ISIS, to the war in Syria, to the collapse of Greece, the collapse of the Chinese stock market, the destabilizing of the European Union, the issue of nuclear weapons and Iran, the moral and spiritual transformation of America, the deterioration of relations between America and Israel, and more," Cahn told WND. 

In the financial realm, the markets have been expanding since 2009. Cahn believes the Shemitah, if it follows its pattern of the past two seven-year cycles, will bring a shaking in the financial realm first.

And regarding recent events in the United States (Tweet that!):

"The Shemitah also can mean 'the fall.' And we are watching the greatest, most rapid moral and spiritual fall in American history," Cahn said.

Mr. Cahn went on to says this regarding the June 26 U.S. Supreme Court decision:

"This is a pivotal event with colossal ramifications, and one that draws America one step closer to judgment."

There are many more interesting comments from Jonathan Cahn in the article which you can read. Here is the conclusion of the article:

America is heading for judgment. Whether that judgment entails a stock market collapse, a collapse of the dollar, or something further down the road that is even worse, Cahn is also praying that the individual Christians that make up the body of Christ in America will get right with God and repent of their sins. 

For judgment always starts "in the house of the Lord."

What Author Jonathan Cahn says about the Coming Shemitah Falling on a Sunday (Part 4)

In the previous three posts, we’ve been looking at the fact that the coming Shemitah will fall on a Sunday: September 13, 2015.

I’m not the only one who has noticed this. Jonathan Cahn, in his book The Mystery of the Shemitah, also talks about this and has some interesting thoughts to share. Let me share a few paragraphs:

The coming Shemitah [year] will end September 2015. Its final climactic day, Elul 29, the Day of Remission, will fall on Sunday, September 13. Since the stock markets are closed, this would preclude the beginning of a market collapse that day, inasmuch as America is concerned.

But there are other possibilities. While nothing has to take place on or around this time, if something were to happen, a collapse or calamity could take place just before or after that weekend, or both before and after. It could also take place within the larger Elul-Tishri period surrounding Elul 29. Another possibility is that of a trigger event that takes place outside the time of the markets’ openings that could bring about a market collapse—as in the case of 9/11. And there is the possibility of a calamity taking place beyond and apart from the financial and economic realms, and yet which causes the collapse of both these realms.

It is worthy to note that as it was in 2001, so it will be again in 2015—the last day the market will be open before Elul 29, the Day of Nullification, will be September 11.

(Regarding his reference to “the larger Elul-Tishri period”: Tishri is the name of the first month of the year on the Jewish / Biblical calendar, so it follows the month of Elul.)

The Shemitah is both a day and a whole year. The Shemitah year starts on Tishri 1 and ends on Elul 29. For more on Elul 29, see my June 11, 2015, post "When is the Shemitah 2015?"

The Importance to America of the Coming Shemitah Falling on a Sunday - Part 3

The Shemitah 2015 falls on
a Sunday: September 13th.

In the previous two posts, we've talked about the first two reasons why I was surprised when I discovered this coming Shemitah on September 13, 2015, is falling on a Sunday.

The first reason I found this surprising was because the American stock market, like many businesses, is closed on Sunday. And the major event on the past two Shemitahs was the falling of the stock market.

The second reason I found the next Shemitah falling on a Sunday surprising is because God absolutely scheduled it that way. So why would He do that… if the stock market is closed on Sundays? (Tweet that!)

That brings me to my third reason:

Reason #3: America is (still) known as a Christian nation and Christians worship on Sunday

Christians worship on Sunday. America is a Christian nation. It was founded on Christian principles. It was dedicated to God by Christians on its very first day of existence.

As a matter of fact, the reason many American businesses used to be closed – including the stock market – on Sundays is precisely because Christians worship on Sundays. I talked about this in my June 9, 2015, post about the Blue Laws: "Closed … for the Shemitah?" 

I've heard some American friends who visited Israel talk about how strange it felt for them to be in Israel and have all the businesses open and people working on Sunday. Well of course everything is open on Sunday in Israel. For them, the day of worship is Saturday.

Sunday is the first day of the week. Therefore it's the first day of the work-week also. That's normal in Israel. It just feels strange to Americans who are used to most people traditionally worshiping on Sundays.

I believe God scheduled this coming Shemitah to occur on Sunday on purpose. (Tweet that!) He scheduled it like this from the beginning of time. He knows His people who live in America will be in His house worshiping Him. (Tweet that!) I believe this pleases Him.

The world will be going about "business as usual," but God's obedient people will be in worship when the Lord's release, the Shemitah, falls. (Tweet that!)

As the Shemitah falls, what better place is there for us to be than in worship? Where else should we be but in the house of the LORD? (Tweet that!)

The Importance to America of the Coming Shemitah Falling on a Sunday - Part 2

a Sunday: September 13th.

In the previous post, Part 1, we talked about how this next coming Shemitah on September 13, 2015, falls on a Sunday and how that surprised me. The first reason I find that surprising is because the most notable events that have happened on the previous two Shemitahs was the fall of the stock market and yet the American stock market is closed on Sunday. 

But even though the Shemitah falling on a Sunday surprised me, it did not surprise God. (Tweet that!)

Reason #2: God knew it would be Sunday

When I discovered the Shemitah will fall on a Sunday, it really got me thinking. Why would God schedule the Shemitah to fall on a Sunday? (Tweet that!)

We've been studying the meaning of the Shemitah and what has taken place on previous Shemitahs. We've seen the incredible stock market collapses on the very days of the previous two Shemitahs. 

So if we're seeing a pattern develop, if God is teaching us, if we are to take what we learn and apply it so we can look forward and predict what might happen next, then having the Shemitah on a Sunday when the stock market is closed seems to throw a wrench into that whole process. (Tweet that!) Or He is stretching us to grasp the next point He wants to make.

But nevertheless, when you really think about it, God must have scheduled it like this on purpose. Why do I say that? Because the God of the universe can do that. He is able. He can look that far forward in time and perfectly schedule out when everything will occur.

He scheduled this current series of total lunar eclipses to occur on the first and the last of the 7 annual major Jewish holidays. That is no coincidence. (Tweet that!)

So this coming Shemitah falling on a Sunday is certainly no coincidence. It was perfectly planned and scheduled. So what might God be telling us? (Tweet that!) I have some ideas I'll share in the next post.

The Importance to America of the Coming Shemitah Falling on a Sunday - Part 1

a Sunday: September 13th.

It has not escaped my notice that this coming Shemitah falls on Sunday. This surprised me for at least three reasons. But then it also got me thinking: Could this next Shemitah falling on a Sunday hold special importance for America? (Tweet that!)

Reason #1: The American Stock Market is not open on Sunday

When I looked at the calendar and saw that the Shemitah coming this next September falls on a Sunday, it surprised me because the American Stock Market is not open on Sunday. So how could another stock market crash occur like the past two Shemitahs?

Would this fact of the Shemitah falling on Sunday when the stock market is closed prevent another stock market crash on the Shemitah? (Tweet that!)

That doesn't seem likely because if judgment from God is coming, then nothing will stop it … except for repentance and turning back to God. (Tweet that!)

Repentance means the combined actions of stopping doing something that is wrong and also turning and going a different direction that is a right way to go. (Tweet that!) If America repents and turns back to God, the coming judgment can still be averted. (Tweet that!)

What would it take for America to "repent"? What would that look like? It would take a national repentance indicated by a turn of direction that is turning back to God directed by the leadership of this nation, meaning the political leaders.

Many Americans are looking forward to the next presidential election in 2016. The Shemitah, however, comes in September of 2015 – more than a year before the next presidential election. (Tweet that!)

So even the Shemitah falling on a Sunday when the stock market is closed will not and cannot avert a judgment from God if that is coming.

In part two we'll look more closely at the fact that the coming Shemitah falls on a Sunday.

Does the Shemitah Apply to America? - Part 2

In the previous post, Part 1, we began addressing the question, "Does the Shemitah apply to America?" Continuing, here is another piece of information from Jonathan Cahn's book, The Harbinger Companion with Study Guide, page 88: (Tweet that!)

The greatest collapse of the 2008 economic implosion and the greatest stock market crash in American history happened on September 29, 2008. That day on the biblical calendar was the twenty-ninth day of Elul, the final, crowning day of the Hebrew Shemitah—and the exact day appointed by God for the wiping away of a nation's financial accounts. 

The Shemitah revolves around the number seven. So the number seven arises over and over again concerning the economic collapse of 2008. The great collapse happened on the crowning day of the seventh year. It was triggered on Capitol Hill when Congress rejected a $700 billion bailout plan. Seven percent of the market was wiped out. And the number of points wiped away was 777. 

In order to trigger all of these "sevens," all of Wall Street, the American and world economies, every economic and financial transaction, had to be an exact position for it all to happen as it did, at the exact time and to that exact number. No human hand could have orchestrated it.

Does the Shemitah Apply to America? - Part 1

Does the Shemitah apply to America? (Tweet that!)

In his book The Harbinger Companion with Study Guide on page 85, author Jonathan Cahn addresses this question. He acknowledges that the law of the Shemitah was given to Israel long before America existed.

Also, America has never been obligated to observe a Sabbath year. (Tweet that!)

But then Jonathan Cahn explains that the Shemitah is a biblical "sign of judgment on a nation that has driven God out of its life." (Tweet that!) That describes America…more than most people acknowledge.

While I do not wish to borrow too much from Mr. Cahn's book (which I certainly recommend to you), he is such an excellent teacher and shares so much great information. And I certainly can't explain it more succinctly than he does. So here are a few paragraphs from his book:

Thus, it is the Shemitah as a biblical sign of national judgment in the context of the warning of America that now concerns us. 

Behind the crash of Wall Street and the collapse of the American economy lies the mystery of the Shemitah. 

In 2008 the collapse of Lehman Brothers and America's economy took place over the course of a week, the anniversary week of 9/11. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac collapsed on September 7 of that year. Two days later Lehman Brothers began its fall, and on September 11, 2008, the stock market took a precipitous plunge. 

Exactly seven years separated the two events, the precise biblical period of time that concerns the Shemitah. The economic collapse, from housing to finance, concerned a forced wiping away of the nation's financial accounts—the outward form of the Shemitah. In the case of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government relieved them of debts exceeding $5 trillion. In the case of Lehman Brothers, its bankruptcy wiped away its debts and canceled its loans. 

All these events helped trigger a stock market crash, touching the whole world and wiping out all gains over the preceding seven years and then some. The 2008 global economic collapse was one colossal Shemitah, made up of countless smaller ones.

God Will Have His Way -- Warning If the Shemitah is Not Observed

So what happens if people do not do what God says they (or we) should do?

God is kind and gentle, but in the end He will have His way. (Tweet that!)

The people of Israel did not observe the Shemitah. They ignored it. They had been told what would happen if they ignored it. Here is the warning God gave if Israel did not observe the Shemitah:

Your land shall be desolate and your cities waste. Then the land shall enjoy its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies' land… As long as it lies desolate it shall rest--for the time it did not rest on your Sabbaths when you dwelt in it. (Leviticus 26:33-35)

See what I mean? God will have His way.

It's so much better when we cooperate with God, when we trust we can have joy and rest and fun and become amazed at the awesome provision of a loving, fun, merciful God. (Tweet that!)

We can rebel and refuse to obey God. But God will still have His way. (Tweet that!)

Ancient Israel did not observe the Shemitah and they were exiled 70 years for 70 missed Shemitahs.

America is on the same path of rebelling against God and refusing to do things His way. (Tweet that!)

God will have His way.

After the people of Israel ignored the Shemitah, this is what happened:

And those who escaped from the sword [King Nebuchadnezzar] carried away to Babylon…to fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths. As long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.  (2 Chronicles 36:20-21)

Please notice the warning God gave in Leviticus was given hundreds of years before King Nebuchadnezzar carried the people of Israel from the Promised Land to exile in Babylon.

My note to Christians: be godly people, even in the midst of America's rebellion against God. (Tweet that!) Not everyone in America is rebelling. There are many Christians here staying true to God. If you are in another country, the same holds true for you: be godly people, even if everyone around you is refusing to live God's way. He knows, hears, and will provide for each and every one who belongs to Him. (Tweet that!)

But the next question is, does all this about the Shemitah apply to America? If it does, how? We’ll look at that in the next post.
