Can this Date be Biblically Prophetic? Important Events in Jewish History on the 9th of Av

"Negotiations about Iranian Nuclear Program -
the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Other Officials
of the P5+1 and Ministers of Foreign Affairs
of Iran and EU in Lausanne"
by United States Department of State
Licensed under Public Domain via Wikimedia Commons
In the previous post we looked at the date when Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke to the joint session of the United States Congress. He gave this speech, which was against the deal the U.S. is working out with Iran to allow Iran to create nuclear weapons, on the eve of Purim. Mr. Netanyahu is concern Iran will use their nuclear weapons against Israel and it's a certainty that they will because they have said as much and there is no reason to disbelieve they will do exactly as they threaten.

I believe it's significant that Mr. Netanyahu's speech was given on the eve of Purim. (Tweet that!) The One True God reveals His wisdom and speaks to us in patterns. (Tweet that!) And as we've watched the past three "Blood Moons" on important Jewish Feast days occur over the past year, we can notice, if we're paying attention, that the Lord God has planned and timed these events to coincide with what He foreknew would be occurring on earth. (Tweet that!

Purim was when the enemies of Israel plotted to wipe Israel off the face of the earth in the time of Queen Esther, 474 B.C. The Prime Minister's speech to the U.S. about the U.S.'s coming nuclear agreements with Iran was on the eve of Purim (Tweet that!) and I believe also on the eve of significant worldwide events occurring concerning Iran attempting to carry out its threats against Israel with the cooperation of the United States. (Tweet that!)

If dates are in fact prophetic, meaning we can see a pattern in history of important events occurring on the same date (on the Jewish calendar), then my question is, can we take an educated guess that something significant might occur on this date in the future? (Tweet that!)

Here are three examples: (Tweet that!)

The Total Lunar "Blood Moon" Eclipses On Jewish Holy Days

If you've been following this blog or the series of four "Blood Moons" you know we are experiencing a series of four total lunar eclipses on significant dates on the Jewish calendar. Those dates are the first and last of the seven annual feasts – Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles – in both 2014 and 2015. In the past, significant events occurred in Israel's history around those times. Learn more here:

The Financial Happenings on Past Shemitahs

If you've been following this blog, then you also know about the Shemitah that comes every seven years, which we will talk about more as it approaches on September 13, 2015. (Tweet that!) Major financial falls have occurred in the United States which rippled worldwide on the previous two Shemitahs in 2001, just after the attacks of 9/11, and again in 2008. Some are already speculating what may occur this coming fall. Learn more here:

The 9th of Av

"Av" is the fifth month on the Jewish religious calendar and matches up approximately with July/August on our calendar. On the 9th day of Av, significant occurrences have taken place in Israel's history including the following. (Tweet that!):

  • According to Jewish history, it was on the 9th of Av that the ten spies, not counting Joshua and Caleb, which Moses sent to search out the Promised Land gave their bad report to Moses which caused the Israelites to refuse to enter the land God promised to them, resulting in them wandering the wilderness for forty years until that generation died off before entering the Land under Joshua's leadership.
  • It was on the 9th of Av that the first Jewish Temple, that is Solomon's Temple, was looted and burned by the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar. (Note my Bible says, "On the seventh day of the fifth month…" (2 Kings 24:8). That was August 14, 586 B.C. Jeremiah 52:12 records it as "the tenth day of the fifth month…" A note in the NIV Study Bible explains the difference this way: "The parallel in 2 Ki 25:8 reads 'seventh day'; one of the numbers is a copyist's error, but we cannot tell which." See 2 Chronicles 36:15-21, 2 Kings 25:1-21, Jeremiah 52:4-27.)
  • Significantly, the second Temple was also destroyed on the 9th of Av in 70 A.D. by the Romans under Titus. This occurred some 40 years after Jesus' death and resurrection and fulfilled the Bible prophecy spoken by Jesus himself in Matthew 24:2.
  • King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella expelled the Jews from Spain on the 9th of Av in 1492.

So my question is, Could something prophetically significant happen to Israel on the 9th of Av in soon-coming years? Even in 2015? (Tweet that!) On our calendar, the 9th of Av in 2015 takes place from the evening of July 24 to the evening of July 25, 2015.

What will Life be Like After the 4th Lunar Eclipse? - Amazing Worldwide Event #4 in 2015 Linked to Bible Prophecy

So here's the big question I'm sure is on everybody's mind: What will life be like after these events of next September -- the Shemitah and the 4th lunar eclipse? (Tweet that!)

And what will happen on the Shemitah on September 13, 2015?

We can see what happened on the previous two Shemitah's in 2001 and 2008, which I described in the January 15th post, 2015 Amazing Worldwide Event #3 Linked to Bible Prophecy: The Coming Shemitah in September. To recap, on those dates the stock market fell 7%. So will that happen again? That's the big question.

My answer? At this point I don't see any reason there won't be a repeat, and perhaps even a greater, more devastating fall than 7%. (Tweet that!)

What could prevent that devastation? A national turning back to the one true God of heaven by the United States of America. But I don't foresee that happening. (Tweet that!)

I see the United States continuing its path away from God -- the Judeo/Christian God. We have many leaders who do not believe we are, ever have been, or should be a Christian nation – even though the historical record clearly shows this nation was founded as a Christian nation, prayed over to be a Christian nation, and until recently was lead by people who believe in it being a Christian nation. (Tweet that!)

But now we have many leaders who want America to be a led by a different god, or at least multiple gods who are all believed to be equal. This is an affront to the One True God. (Tweet that!)

Many more of our leaders don't seem to be able to lead enough of us to counteract that.

So we have the stronger leadership in the United States leading us in a wrong direction. And we have a complete lack of leadership in the right direction. This is creating a "perfect storm" that will lead to America's downfall. (Tweet that!) If nothing changes. And I foresee nothing changing.

I see America in a spiral downward and I am very pessimistic about our future, especially as a powerful leader for good in the world. (Tweet that!)

I believe our current leadership is leading us, willfully, into globalism which means powers in the rest of the world will rule America. (Tweet that!)

I also believe this is coming more rapidly than most people comprehend. (Tweet that!)

And I believe all of these "signs in the heavens" that I've been writing about on this blog, in order to alert and educate as many people as possible, are signs that something is coming. (Tweet that!) Something huge. Something world-changing. It's already in motion and there is no stopping it.  (Tweet that!)

And so what will life be like after the Shemitah? I don't know. What does a world look like after a major financial collapse in the United States that cascades throughout the world? Will our cash money be any good? Will it buy anything? Food? Fuel? Will there be anything to buy? Will food and fuel be rationed? Will there be medical/health care?

Will this lead the world to a point – whether then or later – when everyone will be forced to have a card or other biometric device in order to buy anything? That would be the fulfillment of Revelation 13:17, would it not?

The "it" in this passage is the person known as the Antichrist:

Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)

And then, only two weeks after the Shemitah with the partial solar eclipse, comes the fourth total lunar eclipse in the series of four, the fourth and final of the four "Blood Moons."

And so we come to this post's real question:

What will life be like after the this fourth and final lunar eclipse? (Tweet that!)

What do you think? As we stand outside under the night sky watching this fourth lunar eclipse, will our lives be vastly different from what they are today? Will they be like what I just described above?

If something major is going to happen, how might we prepare? What is our best preparation?

Some people are stocking up on all kinds of supplies. This is not wrong nor a sign of unbelief or lack of faith. However the best preparation any of us can make is to "stock up on" or strengthen our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our help, our supply, our everything we will ever need. (Tweet that!)

So where are you in your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ? The best answer is: know Him and growing my knowledge and understanding of and faith in Him.

In Jesus Christ is the only safe place to be now as well as during and after the Shemitah and the 4th lunar eclipse next September. (Tweet that!)

Helping people to know and understand the Lord Jesus Christ as their preparation for the future is ultimately what this blog is all about. (Tweet that!

Where the 4th Lunar Eclipse Will be Visible - Amazing Worldwide Event #4 in 2015 Linked to Bible Prophecy

You will be able to see this #4 total lunar eclipse in the series of four from most of North America, South America, Europe, west Asia, and parts of Africa. (Tweet that!

There's one fact about this total lunar eclipse compared to the #3 eclipse in April that I find fascinating. (Tweet that!) While both eclipses will last near the same about of time from beginning to end, there's a large difference in the amount of time the moon will be totally eclipsed -- called the "totality" phase.

From beginning to end, the eclipse will last:

  • 3rd Lunar Eclipse in the tetrad, April 4, 2015:  3 hours and 29 minutes
  • 4th Lunar Eclipse in the tetrad, Sept. 28, 2015: 3 hours and 20 minutes

The moon will be totally eclipsed (totality):
  • 3rd Lunar Eclipse in the tetrad, April 4, 2015:  about 5 minutes
  • 4th Lunar Eclipse in the tetrad, Sept. 28, 2015: about 1 hour and 12 minutes
I'm sure there's a scientific reason for this having to do with the positions of the earth and moon. Is there a spiritual reason? (Tweet that!) For example a longer extension of time in totality being relevant to how dire the warning is? (Tweet that!) Or possibly relevant to how much closer we are to...whatever is going to happen next? (Tweet that!) Remember this is the fourth and final of these four total lunar eclipses.

I don't know any answers to these questions, but it's interesting to contemplate.

You can learn more about this eclipse here: (Tweet that!)

Come back in two days and we'll speculate on what life might be like after this coming fourth lunar eclipse in September that may be linked to Bible prophecy.

Christmas Advent Day 4: Was Jesus Born on the Feast of Tabernacles? (Video Post)

I hope you're enjoying this Christmas video series as we look forward to the coming of Jesus, the Christ.

If you've missed any previous Christmas Advent posts, you'll find links to the previous Days at the bottom of the page.

You've probably heard that, while we celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December, most likely Jesus was not born on that day. But I think I know which day Jesus was born on! (Tweet that!)

Today I'm going to tell you how I came to the conclusion that Jesus may have been born on the Feast of Tabernacles. (Tweet that!) Now that, as you might imagine, takes a bit of explaining! So I hope you'll hang in there with me through the explanation. I think it's all fascinating so I hope you'll find it worthwhile.

Why would it carry any significance if God had Jesus be born on the Feast of Tabernacles? Because "tabernacle" means dwelling place, so wouldn't it be fitting if God came to dwell among people on the Feast that celebrates God dwelling among people? (Tweet that!)

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14, NIV).

Furthermore, if Jesus was born on the Feast of Tabernacles, then He may have been conceived during the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah! (Tweet that!) Hanukkah is the Festival of Lights, and Jesus was the Light of the World who was coming into the world. Cool, huh?

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world (John 1:9, NIV).

This year Hanukkah begins the evening of December 16 and it's 8 Days of Hanukkah, runs through Christmas Eve, December 24.

Want to know more? It's all here in this video. Enjoy!

Tips for Viewing the Lunar Eclipse Early Morning October 8th

Morguefile.com
We are continuing to look forward with anticipation to the next lunar eclipse coming very early next Wednesday morning (stay up late Tuesday evening!).

Last April 15, when we enjoyed the first of the four lunar eclipses we're currently living in the middle of, I learned a few things while watching the eclipse that I wanted to remember and share. (Tweet that!)

  • First, I expected to have to stand outside in the cold to watch. Turns out, the entire event was visible from my south-facing windows.
  • I have a telescope and it was fun to get that up-close view of the beautiful red or copper-colored moon. So if you have a telescope, definitely use it.
  • However it was almost easier to track the moon in eclipse as it moved across the sky with hand-held binoculars, so dig yours out and dust them off. You'll really enjoy them. (Tweet that!)
  • Don't have either a telescope or binoculars? No problem. It was also very beautiful to see and watch the eclipse of the moon with the naked eye. (It is safe to watch a lunar -- moon -- eclipse with the naked eye. It is not safe to do so with a solar -- sun -- eclipse.)
  • It's fun to get some hot cocoa, a lawn chair, a coat and/or blanket and watch outside.
  • Finally, join the Facebook Lunar Eclipse Watch Party Event. Click "Going" and then click to share with your Facebook friends. Please invite all your friends and family members and neighbors to join also – it's open to anyone interested, no matter their location. (Tweet that!)

Before I let you go, let me remind you that tomorrow at sundown begins Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, a most solemn day. Time to look inside and see: Have you allowed Jesus to atone for your sins? If not, do so today by telling Him in prayer that's what you want. (Tweet that!)

Read more about the Jewish holy day, and the 6th of the 7 Feasts of the LORD, the Day of Atonement here:

Remember that this is not a Jewish-only holiday because our God did not call them the "Feasts of the Jews" but the "Feasts of the LORD." These Feasts belong to anyone who belongs to the one true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. (Tweet that!)

Invite Your Neighbors to View the Coming Blood Moon Event

Morguefile.com
The second lunar eclipse in the current tetrad is only one week away. Why not invite your neighbors to join you to view this history-in-the-making event? (Tweet that!)

I've already invited a neighbor, and she not only said yes she'd join me outside early the morning of October 8 to watch it, she's excited about it! I'm planning to invite more neighbors to join us. If you're interested, why not do the same and make neighborhood event out of it? (Tweet that!)

It will be a time for you to share what you have learned about this important, historic event which is occurring on the 7th annual Feast of the LORD, which is the Feast of Tabernacles.

Others may see you gathered in the middle of the night, wonder what you're doing, and ask questions. You'll then have an opportunity to engage with your neighbors to discuss what's happening, why it's spiritually important, and will be able to answer their questions and discuss with them the history we are seeing play out before our eyes.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking. "But I don't know enough about all this. You can bet they will ask me questions. How am I going to explain all the spiritual significance to everyone?"

Problem solved: I've made a handy PDF tri-fold brochure handout with the basic information that you can download and print right now. (Tweet that!)

If you are a Christian and would like to start a conversation about spiritual matters with your neighbors, friends, or family members, this is a great, unique way to witness to your friends and neighbors. (Tweet that!) Print out my handout and you'll be equipped with facts, dates of the lunar eclipses, information on the Feasts of the LORD, Scripture verses, and more help to assist you. Or you can simply print copies to give to your friends and neighbors.

Want an invitation to spread around your neighborhood? Here's some suggested text for an invitation. You can get information for your location to fill in the blanks online at sites like TimeAndDate.com: Oct 8, 2014 Total Lunar Eclipse.

YOU'RE INVITED!

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 8th, there will be a total lunar eclipse. I'm so excited about this event that I'm making plans to wake up and take a look. Would you like to join me?
In our area, if the skies are clear, we can expect to see the eclipse begin at ___________.
The total phase of the lunar eclipse will last 55 minutes with the partial phases lasting about 1 hour and 9 minutes both before and after the total phase. (Please note the moon may disappear below the horizon before the eclipse is over, depending on your location.)

I'm especially excited about this lunar eclipse because it may have special spiritual significance. We are currently living in a series of four total lunar eclipses that may have been predicted in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. If you'd like to know more about that, I'll have some information with me that night. Please feel free to ask me questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
Let's make a fun neighborhood event of it! Please join me outside at (address/location:
______________________________________________________________________.
Let's keep it quiet to be respectful of those neighbors who do not wish to join us.

BYO's! (Bring Your Own)

  • lawn chair
  • snugly blanket
  • binoculars area  great way to view a lunar eclipse
  • Hot cocoa, cider, tea, or coffee. (No alcohol please.)

While you're at it, why not message your local Police Department. You can probably find an e-mail address to send a message like this:

As a courtesy I wanted to let you know that I have invited my neighbors to join me outside in the early morning hours of October 8, 2014, to watch the total lunar eclipse. You shouldn't get any phone calls because I've left an invitation at the door of all my neighbors so they should know what we're doing out there. But if you do get a call that people are standing around in my neighborhood that night, that's what we're up to.

Don't be surprised if you see a patrol car drive by or stop to join you. Invite the officers to stay for a little while and offer them a cup of hot cocoa.

The Feast of Tabernacles - Part 2 - and the Next Blood Moon

Morguefile.com
The Feast of Tabernacles begins on Tishrei 15, five days after the Day of Atonement.

As we've discussed previously, on the Jewish calendar the first of the month is always on a new moon and therefore the 15th of the month is always on a full moon.

As we've also discussed before, a lunar eclipse can only take place on a full moon

If you've been following the current tetrad* of four lunar eclipses on Jewish holy days, the next total lunar eclipse, which is the second of the set of four, will take place on October 8th – that is in the early morning hours of October 8. (Tweet that!

October 8, 2014, is the eve or (or the beginning of at sundown) Sukkot, which is the Hebrew name for the Feast of Tabernacles. (Tweet that!)

As I said in my previous post, this is not a coincidence. This is a God-incident. (Tweet that!)

God is speaking. He is setting His signal in the sky for all the people of the earth to see.  (Tweet that!) He is setting a sign in the sky where no one can cover it over or hide it. We are not dependent on the news media to tell us this piece of information. Governments and leaders cannot hide it from the people. It is there. No one can make it go away.

Morguefile.com
Yes, people can say it's just a coincidence. Skeptics can snicker. Those who refuse to believe can ridicule. But it's still there. For everyone on earth to see. (Tweet that!)

It is a message. A warning. A shouting to the people of the earth that something is happening. (Tweet that!) Something is about to happen. If you're not listening, if you've never listened before, will you begin to listen now? And who would you like to share this with?

Our next post on Thursday will be on the Feast of Trumpets. After that, we will spend our posts until the eclipse of October 8 talking about and anticipating the next "Blood Moon" lunar eclipse.

* A tetrad is a series of four total lunar eclipses with no partial eclipses occurring in between.

The Feast of Tabernacles - Part 1

"Sukkah Roofs" by Yoninah -
Own work. Licensed under
Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 via Wikimedia Commons -

The seventh and final annual Feast of the LORD is the Feast of Tabernacles. The Hebrew name for this Feast is Sukkot (sue-COAT). It is also known as the Feast of Booths.

God gave the instructions for the Feast of Tabernacles to Moses in Leviticus 23:33-34.

33 The Lord said to Moses, 34 "Say to the Israelites: 'On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the Lord's Festival of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days...'"

This is the third Feast that God required all Jewish males to attend in Jerusalem (Deuteronomy 16:16).

This feast lasts for seven days. The Feast of Tabernacles begins on Tishrei 15, five days after the Day of Atonement, and lasts until the Tishrei 21.

The reason God wanted the people of Israel to celebrate this Feast was to remember and celebrate the way God provided for and protected the Hebrew people in the dessert for 40 years after they were released from slavery in Egypt in the time of Moses (1526 – 1406 B.C.).

To celebrate this Feast, the people of Israel throughout the centuries have built "booths" out of tree limbs to live in temporarily, like the ones in the photo upper left. This remembers how their ancestors lived in the dessert around 3,500 years ago.

The word "tabernacle" means a dwelling place. The Tabernacle, built in the time of Moses, and its more permanent version known as the Temple, was symbolic of God's dwelling place as God dwelt among His people. (Tweet that!)

In other words, in the Tabernacle/Temple, God "tabernacled" with His people. (Tweet that!)

Morguefile.com
Jesus fulfilled this idea in part when he came to earth. We could say Jesus, being God incarnate, came and "tabernacle" (lived with) us, humankind, for a time.

The apostle John wrote this about Jesus*, the incarnation of the very Words of God:

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14, NIV 2011).
The idea of the Feast of Tabernacles also looks forward into the future. Back in Moses' day, it was the far distant future. Today, approximately 3,500 years later, it is much closer. There is coming a day when God will again "tabernacle" with humankind during the 1,000 year millennium reign of Jesus Christ (at the end of which Satan and all evil will be done away with forever). Hear what the last book in the Bible, the book of Revelation which is about the End Times, says:

"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God' " (Revelation 21:3, NIV 1984).

The Feast of Tabernacles looks forward to the day when God will come to tabernacle with His people -- those who love and follow Him. All others have been swept away.

Which group are you in? Which group would you like to be in? If you are not yet one of God's people but would like to be, simply talk to Jesus in prayer and tell him you want to be a true follower of his. He will begin to guide you and teach you his Truth.

The Feast of Tabernacles in 2014 will begin at sundown on October 8. This is also the date of the next total lunar eclipse or Blood Moon. That is no coincidence. (Tweet that!) We'll talk more about that in the next post next Tuesday.

*If you would like to learn more about how Jesus came to tabernacle among us, how all the prophecies of old point to Jesus, and how many of these prophecies were fulfilled in his birth at the first Christmas, please get my book Prophecies Fulfilled in the Birth of Jesus. This makes an excellent study for the upcoming Christmas season. Added thoughts, prayers, and questions make it easy to discuss as a family or use it to lead a small group.

At That Time...

Morguefile.com
The next sentences Jesus spoke when describing to his disciples the events preceding his coming are these:
"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." Matthew 24:30-31, NIV 1984 (this version no longer available).

In the previous post we talked about how Jesus had said "immediately after" these events in verse 29. These events would be all the happenings we've been looking at on this blog since June 24, 2014, when we started reading through Matthew 24 verse by verse. So these events would include false Christian teachers and leaders who claim to be Christians but are not and are leading many astray, persecution of Christians (seen any of that in the world lately?), nations rising against nation, earthquakes, famines, the "abomination that causes desolation," and people claiming the "Christ" is in hiding.

Then Jesus said "immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light" (Matthew 24:29, NIV).

Notice now that Jesus gives another time stamp to these events when he says "At that time…" (Tweet that!)

At that time, when the world sees Jesus "coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory" (Matthew 24:30, NIV) the nations will mourn because they did not believe in him. (Tweet that!) They didn't think any of this would happen. They will be totally surprised and shocked, realize they were wrong, and in extreme fear will mourn.

In today's world, most of the people of the earth ridicule people like me: people who do believe in Jesus and do know that he is coming again. (Tweet that!) People like me who believe he is coming soon…not a vague "soon" but soon, as in our lifetimes.

When they see Jesus actually coming, they will mourn because they didn't believe. They thought people like me were crazy. And yet…

Here he is. In the flesh. Coming at them, proving them wrong! How frightening this must be for all those who refused to believe in any of this beforehand. (Tweet that!) What will happen to them now?

The very next sentence says Jesus sends his angles -- notice they are HIS angels! -- to gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. (This may be more than the "elect" -- the true believers in Jesus -- who are on earth; these may be all the "elect" of all time, meaning all true believers in the Christ of God.)

Please notice the trumpet call in verse 31:
"And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other" (Matthew 24:31, NIV. Emphasis added).

As I mentioned in the previous post (and many times before…repetition to help you learn it), there are seven Feasts of the Lord. Three in the spring. Then a break to the fourth, which is Pentecost, in June. We talked about these first four Feasts last spring on this blog. Then we took a break through the summer and have been looking at the prophecies Jesus spoke of the End Times in Matthew 24.

Now, as the end of summer comes and fall approaches, it's important for us to talk about the final three of the seven Feasts of the Lord, which occur in the fall. Those final three annual Feasts, celebrated by the Jewish people in the fall of the year, are:
  • the Feast of Trumpets (this year in 2014 occurring on September 24-25),
  • the Day of Atonement (this year in 2014 occurring on October 3-4),
  • the Feast of Tabernacles (this year in 2014 occurring on October 8-16).

We'll talk about those in depth in coming posts, but I wanted you to notice now that the next Feast on God's calendar is the Feast of Trumpets.
Morguefile.com

And I didn't want you to miss the reference to the trumpet call in today's Scripture verse:
"...he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call…" (Matthew 24:31).

I believe these words of Jesus are a direct reference to the Feast of Trumpets! In other words, I believe Jesus is telling us this event of him coming on the clouds with power and great glory will be indicated by, and will occur on, the Feast of Trumpets. (Tweet that!)

If that bit of information doesn't excite you as it does me, I don't know what will!

Jesus now takes a turn in his speech to his disciples as he turns his attention to the lesson of the fig tree in Matthew 24:32-33. We are going to take this turn in his speech as an opportunity to take a break from Matthew 24 in order to learn about the three fall Feasts of the Lord. Included in this discussion of the Fall Feasts will be information on the coming lunar eclipse (being call a "Blood Moon") on October 8th. (Tweet that!)

About Solar Eclipses Part 3 - The Spiritual and Prophetic Significance of the Coming Solar Eclipse

Today is the summer solstice, the day with the longest amount of sunlight of the year in the northern hemisphere. We're making it an opportunity to talk about solar eclipses and the possible prophetic and therefore spiritual significance of the coming solar eclipse on March 20, 2015. (Tweet that!)

There is so much to talk about regarding solar eclipses in general, as well as that particular eclipse in relation to the tetrad of lunar eclipses, that we're only brushing the surface now. I'm sure we'll talk about these things more in the future as these events draw closer.

In April, before the last total lunar eclipse on April 15, 2014, we talked about what a tetrad is, that it is four lunar eclipses in a row. (Tweet that!) Here is a more precise definition from the new book Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs by Mark Biltz:

"…four consecutive total lunar eclipses in a row, without any partial or penumbral eclipses in between, are known as a tetrad" (p. 144).

Also in April we talked about how the tetrad we are in the midst of right now has the total lunar eclipses falling on the first and last of the seven Feasts of the LORD in both 2014 and 2015. (Tweet that!) If you missed that discussion and want to know more, please review the articles in April. (The post on April 15, 2014, has the list of related articles with links at the bottom.)

There is also a total solar eclipse in the center of these lunar eclipses. That will occur on March 20, 2015, which on the Hebrew calendar is Nisan 1. (Tweet that!)

Here is the schedule of the four total lunar eclipses and the total solar eclipse in 2014 – 2015 (Tweet that!):

  • 1st lunar eclipse: Passover - April 15, 2014
  • 2nd lunar eclipse: Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) - October 8, 2014
  • Total solar eclipse: Nisan 1* - March 20, 2015
  • 3rd lunar eclipse: Passover - April 4, 2015
  • 4th lunar eclipse: Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) - September 28, 2015

*Nisan 1 is the first of the Jewish religious year.

You may remember when we discussed "How the Jewish Calendar Works," we learned that the Gregorian calendar that we here in America, and most countries in the west, use is based on the sun. The Muslim calendar is based on the moon. The Hebrew or Jewish calendar is based on both: the lunar cycle defines months and the solar cycle defines years.

If lunar eclipses are messages to the Jewish people (and the rest of us who are watching), do you think a solar eclipse in the center of them could be a message from God to the rest of the people on Earth? (Tweet that!) Is God getting your attention?

"Tetrad" of Four Lunar Eclipses on Jewish Feast Days in the Past

Thanks Morguefile.com
We've been talking about the tetrad of four lunar eclipses that are occurring on major Jewish Feast Days—Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles—in both 2014 and 2015. The first of these will occur early morning tomorrow, April 15th.

While I knew this lunar eclipse was scheduled for April 15th, what I didn't know was would it be early morning hours April 15 or the evening or April 15?

This I knew for sure: the Jewish "day" begins at sundown of what we in the west consider the previous evening. So I was wondering if the eclipse might actually be on what we here in the United States would think of as the night of April 14th which begins the Jewish Passover.

Silly me. I should have known if the scientists say the eclipse is on the 15th, then it is on 15th (after midnight). And since the Passover ends at sundown on April 15th, then it couldn't be the evening (after dark) of the 15th and still be on Passover. Hey, I'm learning here too.

I found the precise information of when this lunar eclipse will occur and when we'll be able to see it here in the United States and the entire Western Hemisphere in this article from CBSNews.com: "Lunar eclipse could doom NASA's LADEE moon orbiter." According to this article, "The total phase will last 78 minutes, beginning at 3:06 a.m. EDT and ending at 4:24 a.m. EDT." (Tweet that!)

You might be wondering just how rare is this schedule of four lunar eclipses occurring on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles two years in a row? (Tweet that!) While it really is quite rare, this is not the first time even in recent history that this has occurred.

Four lunar eclipses also fell on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles three times in the last five hundred and twenty-five years or so. What's interesting is that very significant events occurred in Israel during those same years. (Tweet that!)

1967 – 1968

Most recently, this same tetrad of lunar eclipses on Passover and Tabernacles occurred in 1967 and '68. The first lunar eclipse fell on April 24, 1967, on Passover. In June, Arabs nations were gathering to attack Israel, but Israel preempted their attack beginning June 4, 1967, fought on three different fronts, and won decisive victories on each. During these six days, Israel more than doubled in size and also seized the Old City of Jerusalem. You can read more about the Six-Day War in this "This Day in History" article on History.com: "June 11, 1967: Six-Day War ends."

1949 – 1950

Another tetrad with eclipses on Passover and Tabernacles occurred in 1949 and 1950. Adolf Hitler and his Nazis tried to annihilate the Jews in the Holocaust during World War II, which the United States was involved in from 1941 – 1945. But the unexpected result was that Adolph Hitler was dead while Israel came back to life. For the first time in over 2,000 years, Israel once again became a nation on May 14, 1948. The first Israeli government took office on January 25, 1949 and in the coming months Israel signed truce agreements with Egypt (on February 24), Lebanon (on March 23), Jordan (on April 3), and Syria (on July 20).*

The first lunar eclipse of that tetrad occurred on Passover on April 13, 1949.

1493 – 1494

Most Americans know that Columbus set sail on his infamous journey to the New World, America, in 1492. What does this time have to do with Israel? This time is almost as important in Jewish history as in American history. On March 30, 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain signed a decree ordering the Jews to leave by August if they refused to convert to Catholicism. The Jews were stripped of their wealth and their home.*

Columbus sailed in August 1492. The first of the four lunar eclipses occurred on Passover on April 2, 1493.
Christopher Columbus recorded this infamous edict in his diary:
In the same month in which their Majesties [Ferdinand and Isabella] issued the edict that all Jews should be driven out of the kingdom and its territories, in the same month they gave me the order to undertake with sufficient men my expedition of discovery to the Indies.

*I learned this information from Pastor John Hagee's book Four Book Moons: Something is about to Change, which I recommend. His book includes a lot of additional fascinating details.

32 – 33 A.D.

Mark Biltz, the man from whom I learned about the Feasts of the LORD and the lunar eclipses, recently said he had traced another tetrad to the years of Jesus Christ's crucifixion.

Please take time to get up early and go out and see the lunar eclipse in the early morning hours tomorrow.

In the next post I'll talk about why I don't think anything "big" is actually going to happen tomorrow. We'll see if I'm right soon enough.

Special Note:

In anticipation of the first of the four lunar eclipses occurring in the early morning hours tomorrow, we're discussing information important to understanding their significance. If you missed some of the posts, here is the schedule we covered in recent days. (Tweet that!) I'm sure you know someone who would be interested in these prophetic times. The Prophetic Significance of the Feasts of the LORD

Thanks Morguefile.com
What are the Feasts of the LORD? God gave seven Feasts to the Jews in Leviticus 23. These were Feasts the Jewish people were required to keep, and they continue to observe and celebrate them to this day.

In some translations of the Bible, such as the newer (2011) New International Version (NIV) as well as the New Living Translation (NLT), they are not called "feasts" but are called "festivals."

It's important to notice these are not the Feasts of the Jews. These are Feasts of the LORD. They belong not just to the Jewish people but to everyone who belongs to the LORD.

The seven Feasts of the LORD have both historical meaning and prophetic meaning.

By "historical" I mean these Feasts point back in time to a certain time in history and the Feast is designed to remind the Jews (and all of us) of what God did for the Jewish people at that time in history.

By "prophetic" I mean these Feasts also point forward in time to something God said He would do in the future. Now, these Feasts were given in the time of Moses, who lived approximate 1500 years before Christ, so some of what was "future" in that time is now past history to us. In other words the prophetic/future meaning for some of these feasts is in our past. And we can clearly see it since we now have the benefit of looking back in hindsight.

The prophetic meaning of the first four of the seven Feasts of the LORD were fulfilled in the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The prophetic meaning of the last three of the seven Feasts of the LORD will be fulfilled in his second coming.

Some people don't believe Jesus is coming again. Their disbelief does not affect that truth that he will indeed come again—and that time is growing near. (Tweet that!) Two reasons we can be so confident he will indeed come again are:
  • The fact that he has already fulfilled four of the seven Feasts in his first coming
  • The fact that three of the seven Feasts have yet to be fulfilled.
The first three Feasts occur in spring. Then there's a break of fifty days to Pentecost.

Then the last three Feasts occur in fall of the year.

Here are the seven Feasts (or festivals) of the LORD in the order they occur annually along with the historical event or meaning, the prophetic event or meaning (Tweet that!), and the Scripture backup for that event:
  1. Passover, which points historically to when the Passover Lamb is slain. Prophetically, Christ was our Passover Lamb, slain for the sins of the world (all who will accept that). 1 Corinthians 5:7
  2. The Feast of Unleavened Bread, celebrated by eating only bread without leaven. Historically it points to when the children of Israel left slavery in Egypt in haste with no time to let bread rise. In the Bible leaven often symbolizes sin. Prophetically, Jesus Christ, who was without sin, was buried and in the grave for the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. 2 Corinthians 5:21
  3. The Feast of First Fruits historically commemorates and thanks God for the first of the harvest after the Israelites entered the Promised Land. Prophetically, Jesus Christ is the first of the harvest, the first raised from dead. 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23; Revelation 1:5
  4. Pentecost, historically commemorates the giving of the Law by God to Moses. Prophetically, after Jesus ascended to heaven, the giving of the Holy Spirit was poured out on Pentecost. Acts 2
  5. The first in the fall is the Feast of Trumpets, also known as Yom Teruah or Rosh HaShana. The Feast of Trumpets, historically, is associated with the blowing of the shofar (ram's horn trumpet). Prophetically, it is connected to the resurrection of the dead and/or the Rapture. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
  6. Historically, on the Day of Atonement, also known as Yom Kippur, the High Priest enters Holy of Holies to atone for the people's sins. Every fiftieth year on this day, the Year of Jubilee is proclaimed. Prophetically, Jesus Christ will come again to get his people whose sins are atoned for. Mark 15:37-38, Hebrews 10:19-21
  7. The final Feast is the Feast of Tabernacles, also known as the Feast of Booths or Sukkot. Historically this celebrates the completion of the harvest. Prophetically, the harvest of souls from the earth is complete and God comes to live or "tabernacle" with us. Revelation 14:15-16
NASA projects there will be a full lunar eclipse on both Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles, the first and the last annual Feast of the LORD, in 2014 and then the same repeats in 2015. (Tweet that!)
